XX. JUDGMENT

Reflect and evaluate yourself and your actions.

Pluto. (Fire) — Resurrection, forgiveness.

Judgment, rebirth, inner calling, absolution.

Meaning

In a literal sense, Judgment Day has come. Reckoning. Their outstretched arms symbolize that they are ready to be judged by the universe. The great reunion. They are about to meet their creator, their actions weighed, and find out if they’re going to heaven or hell. (Note, Pluto rules the underworld.) The massive tidal wave in the background signifies that judgement is unavoidable, and that this judgement will be final.

You are coming close to a significant point in your life where you must start to evaluate yourself. The only judgments are those we create ourselves. Through self-reflection, we can have a clearer and objective understanding about where we are now, and what we need to do in order to grow as humans. Time to judge your experience gained from this cycle. What must you take with you? Reflection, realization. Your past actions and their consequences, whether good or bad, are catching up with you now. If you’ve made mistakes in the past, use the lessons you’ve learned to make changes for your future. You may need to be more aware about how your actions are affecting others. Take responsibility.

Can also indicate that you are in a period of awakening, brought on by the act of self-reflection. You now have a clearer idea of what you need to change and how you need to be true to yourself and your needs. This can mean making small changes to your daily life or making huge changes that not only affect you but the people close to you.

We all will face choices that will have an astounding effect for your entire life. Reflect on where actions you have taken have changed the course of your path for good. There may have been a “no looking back” moment. The consequences of those actions eventually will catch up to you, and this card seems to indicate that this is the time.

Let go of your past. The future welcomes you with a bounty of growth and change. You may have to let go of the past, so you can move forward with your plans to have a new life. Freedom from the past. Life changing, transform, Pluto. There are echoes of this card in Death (which is associated with Scorpio, ruled by Pluto), for they both remind us that everything comes to an end and that a new beginning is coming. Change, resurrection, renewal.

Allow yourself to grow, transform, and release hidden potentials within yourself. Divest yourself of fruitless endeavors without neglecting your duties. At the same time, invest your energies in new growth. This process is about you and the desire you feel to change your life. Trust your impulses and allow this remarkable awakening to happen. Go beyond your limitations, transform your flaws, and improve your existence. Do not let your own limitations block you. They should not be seen as an end, in and of itself, but as an obstacle to overcome in order to improve your living conditions. You should not see them as barriers but as challenges. Judgement heralds the arrival of events that will teach you how to go beyond your own limitations. You can decide to tackle this challenge head on, or… pass. But if you do, the same kind of problems will eventually resurface, and they will be even harder to solve. You should deal with it as soon as you can.

Freedom from inner conflicts, and so clear a channel that the buried talents and gifts of past incarnations can come through an individual in this lifetime. Trust the process of opening yourself, because what emerges is of consistently high quality. You can effortlessly manifest as a multi-dimensional being, and assist in evoking that response from others.

Other: Purpose, absolution, law, realization, calling, grace, composure, decisiveness, homesickness, snap judgments, apportioning blame, forgiveness.

Reversed Meaning

You may doubt and judge yourself too harshly. Self-loathing, self-doubt. Indecisiveness. Don’t lose momentum and/or miss out on opportunities! Move forward with confidence. Forgive yourself, move on. Mistakes are learning tools; don’t let them stop you.

Alternatively, you may judge others too harshly. Ensure your criticisms are fair. Unfair blame, false accusations, malicious gossip. Compromise and moderation may be needed.

Another big interpretation is that you’re lacking self-awareness and should give yourself time to self-evaluate and reflect. Think about what you’ve learned. Ensure you have learned from your mistakes, and made amends before progressing. Failure to learn lessons, unwillingness to learn karmic lessons. If you’ve been in denial, face the truth.
